Korax team announces new project

Posted by RambOrc on Thursday, April 1, 2004 @ 7:53

Our secret project, in the works for months by now, is today finally announced, proudly wearing the name "Santa Korax".

The game's objective is to follow Santa Korax' reindeer sled (which is traveling at great speeds) and pick up the candies that might fall off the sled. The task isn't an easy one, because a lot of bad kids are running after the sled as well - the player needs to be faster than them. Since we didn't want to promote violence against minors, you are not allowed to use any weapons against the kids. Your only means of getting rid of them for a short time is two use one of two spells, "The Repulsive Spell Of Body Odor" and "The Extremely Repulsive Spell Of Bad Breath Resulting From Teeth Not Brushed For Two Weeks".

Santa Korax' sled runs now and then into a roadblock where policemen try to stop the sled that travels at speeds far above any official limits. Your task is to run ahead of the sled and destroy these roadblocks (including the policemen) before the sled would crash into them (yes this time you are allowed to use weapons).

Players can choose from 3 different character classes, including the Easter Bunny, the Chocolate Bunny and the Shit Bunny. Depending on character class, you can choose from a wide range of weapons and spells, including classic ones like the Hammer of Retribution and the Rocket Launcher but also all-new ones like the Rotten Yellow Eggs and the Freakin' Cold Mirror Shards.

Since the Vavoom engine we originally intended to use for this project proved to be too complicated for the modest skills of our artists, mappers and programmers, we decided to go with the original unmodified Wolfenstein-3D engine. This also gave us the advantage to be able to use existing blue-uniform enemies for policemen, further reducing the effort needed to bring out this long-awaited release.

For more information and to discuss this new project, check out this thread in our forums.

New SE town screens

Posted by RambOrc on Monday, March 1, 2004 @ 11:21

Work continues on the hub town for Scattered Evil, here a couple of screenshots of the Keep's tower (the first shot is from the inside of the tower, the second shot is a view of the city from one of the tower's windows).

Still more town screens

As promised, here some screenshots where you can see 3D floors in obvious action. The good news is building this stairway didn't take much more time than making a "traditional" one (under which you can't walk through).

KMOD 2.7 glitch

Posted by RambOrc on Thursday, January 1, 2004 @ 14:54

There has been a slight glitch at packaging the latest 2.7 version of Korax Mod. If you downloaded it prior to this announcement, you have most probably the version with the glitch. To find out, look at your ZIP file size. if it's 3.31 MB, you can either download the new version (2.89 MB), or delete the file "korax.dll" and then rename the file "jhexen.dll" to "korax.dll" (all w/o the quotes of course).

More new SE town screens

Today I was trying out more advanced stuff like 3D floors with slopes (not very obvious at first sight, but it makes possible for advanced roofs). Later on I'll also add some more visible 3D floors to the map and post screenshots.

It has taken longer than we all hope but I think it is almost done. We have some new Damage Skins done the Affrit, Stalker, Wendigo and Reivers.

As well as the new Damage Skins we also have a new NPC and two new weapons the Ice Wand and a we split the Fighter's Hammer into two weapons a melee and a ranged one.
