Hey, thanks for letting me in on the team! I was impressed with the Alpha and I'm looking forward to doing some mapping. :D

In the meantime, Firebrand mentioned some custom Vavoom configs for DB2? Is there any way I could get my hands on that?

Also, what should I be working on first? Skimming a few threads around here it seems like priority would be on an intro/tutorial/first quest map in some kind of forest clearing, or is RambOrc already working on that?

I'm pretty busy this week, but if ya point me in the right direction I'll try to have something to show ya by next weekend at least (working 30 hours a week is great)! :D

Yes, once I get home I'll try to upload the Vavoom configs to KDev, meanwhile, you might be interested in reading the infos for developers thread on the Dev forums, it has everything you might need to know to work around here ;).

You could start with the hub you already reviewed, http://orcishweb.com/downloads/koraxdev ... NECROS.WAD

I've started replacing a couple of textures with the desert ruins theme in the above linked version of the hub. Main objectives for the hub are to finish texture replacement, fix all visual errors, redo the monsters and items (especially taking out all those dumb boss monsters except for 1-2, maybe wyvern and heresiarch), and maybe alter the map flow within the hub.

Don't worry about the forest stuff for the moment, I'm pretty far with my tests and it looks decent.

Duh! I totally forgot that I had already uploaded the config files for KRPG a while ago (which are based on the unnoficial Vavoom ones), you can get them from here: http://orcishweb.com/downloads/koraxdev/ScatteredEvil/doombuilder2/krpg_db2_configs.zip

It has a readme to install, it's necessary that you get the latest SVN build of Doombuilder2 from here: http://svn.drdteam.org/doombuilder2/

I followed the instructions as best I could, but I get the following error at launch:

I think there's something missing in there. Specifically the vavoom_common.cfg. Looking at the instructions, there's some steps that ask you to get files that don't appear to be in the .zip.

Also, there's like four "resources" folders in the files, and after downloading and adding pretty much every single one as well as ripping stuff from the latest release itself to add as resources to the default "ZDoom (Hexen)" config, that WAD still has a ton of missing "?" textures for me. I assume the desert ones are new and somewhere else? What exactly should I be grabbing to have the most up-to-date textures/sprites/etc.?

Sorry to keep asking so many questions and being annoying, I'm just excited to work on the project and confused! :P

The good thing about working in IT is I can check forums and surf the net while at work.

Was pretty busy yesterday and I'm heading to a convention tomorrow where I'll be all weekend, so I haven't really had a chance to test it again yet, but I'll try to do some touch ups on that hub and let you guys know early next week!

The config has errors. For example, it searches for "karena" data, which is not present anywhere in includes. Pretty much like it was an edited copy of karena config? *sigh* gotta fix that myself.

By the way, the post above demonstrates why KRPG has such a slow progress.

BTW archive now contain Vavoom configs as well for simplicity. Could be updated if needed:
