Can I say a word to mappers here?
I took a look at the maps of KA and although there were good ones (I recognised some of the UT ones) I suppose that KA needs something project-specific, you know, unique, styled, not just remakes of UT and Heretic maps.

Not necessarily, the rest of the game is also pretty much a mixture of a bunch of other games (Heretic, Hexen, DOOM, Witchaven, UT, Q3A). It's all about the gameplay and to make it as much fun as possible. For sticking to a fantasy world and make it consistent, we've got the RPG project.

It's on KDev already, look on the arena folder, and sort the files list with the date, you should find both the latest KA binaries and the latest KA.wcf, check out how things are done now, since the KAtextures.wad is not used anymore :), if you have anymore questions just ask here and I'll try to help you out. EDIT: I haven't seen all the replies on this thread, so I quoted DarkRaven's post to specify what I'm replying to.

Also, I think that there isn't any problem with the maps, since KA it's just about having fun killing other players/bots, also most of the UT maps and heretic maps are maps known by most people who have played the games, so that makes the battle even more intense, since DarkRaven got a hard time placing the items accordingly to the maps (not exactly as the originals, but it's very approximate to what I remember). I think like Ramborc, it's gameplay what makes the fun, mixed with the maps too.

It's nice to see You again team! And pleased to meet you Crimson Wizard. I accept your comment, I'm planning to the future my very own levels but for now I'm finishing two UT conversion maps (maybe three) :lol:
Unfortunately I don't have much time, I'm under great pressure of work and I spend a lot of time travelling to and from work but I'll do my best with reserve time for Korax Arena! Cheers

Explain me, what is KA textures/patches naming convention? What do "A" and "KAF" prefixes mean?
Also, are there any textures from Quake? Simply curious; when I was making my mod I found very nice textures there.
(Heh, trying to make one simple map for KA, being tired of typing & fixing that stupid code, arrrrhhhh :) )

No, no Quake textures - idgames is well-known for going with lawyers after modders who use their stuff. Even the DOOM marine is a calculated risk and has been put in with the backup plan of using the Strife player character if idgames threatens us.
