We are looking for mappers for our RPG project Scattered Evil.

We need mappers for several kinds of jobs:
1) creating all-new dungeon maps (single maps or hubs) either for intense combat or complicated puzzles (or both)
2) building non-combat maps (villages, towns) that are about look & feel and architecture
3) reworking existing dungeon maps created by others in previous years to add modern Vavoom features like 3D floors, slopes, colored lightning, translucent textures etc, fix errors, replace textures with improved ones, balance enemies and items etc.

If you are interested in applying, you can either post a reply in the comments or send me a PM.

Wish I could help, but I don't know anything about the vavoom engine. I'm more of a GZDoom mapper, but if they're similar enough and the maps you're looking for can be built with Doombuilder maybe I could ease into it. Thing is, I'm extremely focused on school at this point in my life. And not to sound selfish, but I'm also working on another, independent project that needs my full attention. I'm confident I'll finish in a couple months, but putting more on my plate isn't going to make it go any faster.

Besides, I think I learned I'm more of a scripter/content creation person than a mapper. My architecture leaves a lot to be desired I think.

GZDoom maps are almost compatible with Vavoom, only 3d floors are done slightly different.

Just show us some of your work, maps can be created in teamwork (i.e. someone does the architecture, another the scripting etc).

I'm interested in helping! I posted my first two maps (and I admittedly haven't made any full maps since, though I was messing around with something for HPack that I never finished) here if you wanna take another look. I too am more used to GZDoom, but I don't think it would be too hard to switch over to Vavoom. I've dove a bit into ACS since my first two maps, and I'm somewhat familiar with fog, 3D floors, slopes, etc., though again it was all for GZDoom. I currently use and am quite comfortable with Doom Builder II (if you hate me now, I understand. :P). I'm fine with both editing existing maps as well as creating some from scratch, and both mapping and scripting (though I prefer mapping :P).

Just lemme know if you can use me! :D

Hm, actually, what are you all using to map for the project so far? Like I said, I prefer DB2 but Vavoom's website only has config files for DB1, and I can't find them anywhere else. :/

Well welcome to the team, you should be able to access the devforum now. :)

I also use DB2 at the moment, it's got great features but also some bugs. Used DB1 shortly in the past and WadAuthor for 5+ years, each editor has good and bad stuff. It shouldn't really matter which one you use.

I've got some "unofficial" Vavoom configs for DB2, I'll try to post some links to them ASAP.

Eh. Bit late, but I'll see what I can make. I've had some map ideas brewing around for awhile... This gives me the motivation to try to make them.

Sorry for the absence. Again. >.>
