We are proud to announce the release of Korax Arena 0.9.2.1 BETA, this new version has improved stability and gameplay a lot, we have added new gameplay modes, improved maps, fixed many bugs and made lots of improvements.

LAN games improved thanks to the new network code on the Vavoom engine, here are some other changes made to this release:

    - Added CTF and Domination gameplay modes
    - Added XMas Havoc gameplay mode
    - Added server options for games
    - Korax Arena can now be played with original hexen maps
    - Balanced weapon damage rates
    - Improved bot AI routines
    - Added new powerups
    - Bug fixes and improvements of the latest Vavoom SVN revision
    - Bug fixes and improvements for Korax Arena progs

You can download the new release from our SF.net account or from here.

UPDATE: The old version was updated to a new build of Vavoom, that seems to work, please report back to see if it actually works :), thanks!

Wow that was fast. I hope all the sprites are packed in this time? :)

I'm getting the same error myself, strangely, running the game from the command prompt using the same command that the one displayed in the "Other" tab in the launcher makes the game run fine, WTF?! :x

He means that there's the "Other" tab in kalauncher program that shows full command by which vavoom engine should be run.
If this is so, there could be chance that both kalauncher and karena executable do something wrong. Gonna check these.

EDIT: Running from commandline does not make it work either.

More than that, it seems that problem is not in KA itself. Running just a Vavoom engine with autodetection (game is original Hexen) hangss up my PC and debug log is:

The game crashed when I brought the enemy flag back to base when playing CTF.

First of all - I just found a bug that makes them end too fast. When playing Domination and XMas Havoc - set score limit to maximum, currently 0 score limit works not as "unlimited" but as 0 :(
I think we should update the release once again, it's too terrible bug to leave it as is.

Domination is a copy of Unreal Tournament 'Domination'. There are 'bases' all around map (well, 3 of them on that single map but in theory there could be less or more). When you stand on the base it become captured - you see that symbol graphic change to the color of your team. Captured base provide your team 1 score point approximately each 2 seconds. Thus more bases captured, faster score earned. Basically idea is that you should run around map, capturing these bases then defending them from opponents.

XMasHavoc is a joke. Goal is to burn as much XMasTrees as possible. You can do that only by the weapon that burns (has fire damage) - Fighter Hammer of Retirbution, Cleric's Firestorm, Marine's Rocket Launcher etc. These Trees respawn over some time, so you can burn more )) Actually its better to play with socre and/or time limit set, otherwise there wouldn't be much sense.

It all makes sense now. I had tried playing domination with 0 score limit...
