Designed to run on the currently available KMOD 4.0 Beta 2, this partial rework of the Castle of Grief is now available for public testing and feedback.

Image

Monster changes: a number of monsters have been "upgraded" to tougher versions (3 additional versions of ettins, 1 additional version of centaurs, bishops and afrits each).

Architectural changes: the lift towers at the front and rear gates have been remodeled. Also, the corner tower visible on the right side of the screenshot has been reworked, however I'm somewhat unsure about the look & feel and welcome some feedback on it.

Bug (?): Afrit martyrs don't seem to show up.

How to play: download the ZIP below, extract it into the main KMOD 4 folder and add "-file tcsmaps.wad" to the startup options (or type "load tcsmaps.wad" in the console once the game is running).

What? Changes to the game other than the source code? My goodness!

I downloaded it. Please don't tell me korax's minions will be unreasonably hard if I just warp to the map with a level 1 character.

You can use "gimme exp" cheat to increase your level.

If you have a save game from KMOD4 Beta 2 from the second or third hub, applying this download won't break it.

BTW CW I'm still waiting on your feedback whether you are happy with the monster placements now so I can continue with the rest of the hub.

Well, I'll try on weekends.

Cool, I'd also like your ideas on what kind of upgrade to do to the final room in the Gibbet.

Any comments on the monster placement/variety/difficulty?

The vavoom engine keeps throwing errors at me and crashing the game whenever I try to do the warp cheat or even at random times when I'm just playing the game =(
Maybe it's my 64-bit system (was it made for 32-bit?) or I need to find appropriate drivers/libraries for it or what, Idunno.

I am running it on 32bit XP in a virtual machine, so can't say how it works on any other system. You using Vista Vanilla or Vista Second Edition?

I'm on Windows 7. I have another 32-bit computer with Vista, I can see how it works there.

edit: I can't tell what the architectual differences are (if any), but WOAH, it's chocked full of recolored bishops with hellstaffs, ettins chucking fletchettes, centaurs shooting maulotaur fire, and kamikaze dive-bombing afrits!

Is this a preview of what we're getting in scattered evil? This is a madhouse!

I have Windows 7 x64 and I don't remember having much problems with Vavoom...
If you still have those errors, here are some guidelines to how find more specific info about them:

It will be very nice if you could provide that information.

Is that positive or negative opinion? :D

A little of both, I guess.

Making clear what things you liked and what it was that you disliked would be helpful.
