The entire 4th episode including 6 maps (Castle of Grief, Gibbet, Dungeons, Effluvium, Forsaken Outpust and secret level) is now available for testing.

New monsters have been hand placed in all maps, including a previously not available monster (magma stalker), making the total 9 different types of new monsters throughout the episode.

There are also some architectural upgrades in most maps, as well as a sizeable addition to the end fight room of the hub (note: later on, the Heresiarch will be replaced by a gang of Dark Advisors, currently they bug out in rooms with 3D floors).

How to play: download the ZIP below, extract it into the main KMOD 4 folder and add "-file tcsmaps.wad" to the startup options (or type "load tcsmaps.wad" in the console once the game is running).

Tips for quick and easy testing

1) start up the game, configure your character the way you like it
2) pull down the console and type following:
  • map map22
  • gimme weapons
  • gimme exp
  • gimme exp
  • gimme exp
  • gimme exp
  • gimme exp
  • gimme exp
  • gimme exp
  • gimme exp
  • gimme exp
3) press J to open the journal, go to the stats section and distribute all the available skill points the way you want
4) save the game

Now you have a savegame of a level 10 character at the start of the 4th episode, roughly as powerful as you would be if you played through the previous episodes. Make sure not to overwrite this savegame when saving throughout the hub and you can start several new tests from this same point.

I'll give it a test ASAP.

Some issues I notice straight away:

When I use the serpent staff to sap health from enemies, it always stops giving me health when I reached 100, even if I have over 100 max health. Worse, if I have more than 100 health at the moment, it puts my health down to 100 when I use it.

The engine crashes frequently, and these are the two messages I get when this happens:

"Segmentation violation
[Insert jargon about monster animations here]"

"Reference not set to an instance of an object
[Insert jargon about wraithverge ghosts here"

I noticed this almost always happens right after I fire a wraithverge shot, which is really weird. Does this happen to anybody else using the cleric? I'm not sure if it's a problem with the engine or a problem with my PC's specs being misaligned with vavoom's demands,

I noticed the Red mana and the fact that the 3rd and 4th weapons are now in slots 5 and 6, respectively. So you're planning more weapons? That's cool. I hope you make sure they're useful, and not pointless like the new weapons in Serpent Resurrection.

Can someone give me a primer on what Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma do?

See third post at viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2167 for the attributes.

Regarding the crashes, I did all my testing with the fighter and it was less problematic (maybe 3 crashes in 50+ startups).

Well I keep trying to play on Map22 with level 10 and full weapons like you say, but I keep crashing on OpenGL and D3D modes with no error message, just the usual Win 7 "program stopped working"

This is what shows up in my debug file each time

As you can see, Dev: IA::DoRoute : IN seems to repeat infinitly and I think it is what's causing the crash.

also with what Billiam said about
"Segmentation violation
[Insert jargon about monster animations here]"

"Reference not set to an instance of an object
[Insert jargon about wraithverge ghosts here"

Is also a common problem I have with vavoom in general regardless of mods or vanilla, I dunno if it's my radeon 4670 or what, but those kinds of errors are why I generally don't use Vavoom often.

What happens if you use the Fighter instead of the Mage and Cleric? In hindsight I should have tested with more than one class, but Fighter testing was pretty stable.

That's surprising, Ramborc. I had you pegged as a Mage orcblackeye
